Small Business Love

I find now more than ever I am making a conscious effort to support as many other small businesses as possible. This comes from a place of knowing what it’s like to be one of the little guys but also how impacted many businesses were during the harsh lockdowns Australia endured. Being a Melbourne mum who began her small business venture in 2020, I know the ups and downs of small business and the unpredictability. I began thinking about small business this morning as I sipped my morning coffee and flicked through a new diary I purchased for 2023 from a small eco lover store by the name of Conscious Mae. Sure in the past I have shopped for journals and diaries from bigger named stores and brands like Kikki K, Typo, Kmart, but why wouldn’t I look further if I was going to buy a diary anyway and try to support someone small (am I right?!). I love sharing my small business buys in my stories on my personal and professional Instagram accounts because why not try and influence a friend or a follower to purchase the same product that I just have and genuinely love. This leads me to another thought about how important it is to leave reviews or feedback for small businesses as this really does help and encourage their journey and expand their customer base (note to self: check emails of recent purchases to ensure I leave reviews!). In 2022, we live in such a fast paced world but how lovely is it to slow down and appreciate small business, slow fashion and time well spent on this earth. Happy Sunday lovers xx
